There will be a general meeting at the Newspaper Guild this Wednesday May 9th, at 6pm. It is open to anyone eligible to vote, meaning all full-time, part-time, or substitute teachers from either ESB, Mid-town or East Village. Even if you are only very recently hired, this still pertains to you!
The Newspaper Guild is located at 1501 Broadway, Suite 708, between 43rd and 44th St.
Unlike the Kaplan anti-union meetings, no one has to come to this. But you should! You don't have to be a supporter to attend a meeting. And in fact, those of us in favor of the union feel this meeting would be best for the fence-sitters, non-supporters and as well as the recently-hired teachers.
We don't want to make any promises we can't keep, but there was pizza at the last meeting, with a variety of both meat and vegetarian toppings. (Update: Guild sources have confirmed that there will in fact be pizza)
The staff at the Newspaper Guild are all very knowledgeable and friendly people, so don't be afraid to ask anything you want. Many of you have only received the rather one-sided anti-union information from Kaplan. This is your chance to get a fuller understanding of what is going on.
